Tio Pepe – The World’s Most Admired Sherry Left ConatinerJerez, March 2016 – Tío Pepe has made it into the Top 10 in the “World’s Most Admired Wine Brands” from Drinks International. It is the highest ranking Sherry in the annual Top 50 ranking and the only Sherry brand within the Top 10 wines. Tío Pepe is officially the world’s most admired Sherry brand, according to Drinks International’s annual wine brand listing. Ranking amongst some of the world’s most renowned fine wine brands, such as Penfolds, Chateau d’Yquem, Ridge and Latour, the number one Fino from Jerez has been included in the Top 10 “World’s Most Admired Wine Brands” for the first time. Drinks International recruits an academy of top wine industry professionals, including journalists, MW’s and educators, who are polled each year to nominate candidates for the “World’s Most Admired Wine Brand”. “The Academy” of judges is asked to analyse trends and examine the success of each nominated brand in order to ensure the validity and credentials of the final list of winners. According to the magazine the members of the “Academy” are given three votes and presented with a list of previous winners and other well-known brands. They are then charged with the task of voting for wines that: “are of consistent or improving quality, reflect its region of country of origin, respond to the needs and taste of its target audience, be well marketed and packaged and should have strong appeal to a wide demographic.” Commenting on the achievement, company Chairman Mauricio González-Gordon, said, “We continue to strive to ensure that González Byass is at the forefront of the category by investing in our brands and innovating with the launch of initiatives such as Tío Pepe En Rama and Las Palmas special releases.” He continued, “We are delighted to have received this recognition from Drinks International and to have ticked all the boxes when it comes to quality, consistency authenticity and renown. To be ranked as the top Sherry in the “World’s Most Admired Wine Brands” is a great achievement.” For more in depth information on Gonzalez Byass and their methods of making Sherry, view the series of videos “The Pillars of Jerez” by Gonzalez Byass Categories: Issue 2 South Australia Trade TripBest bits from the ‘good folk’ who embarked on the annual Negociant NZ’s trade tour of Barossa.
